Narrative:
On vectors to ILS runway 18C mem. Descended to 3000 ft and given 210 degree heading to intercept and cleared to runway 18C, ILS approach. First officer and captain tuned to 108.3 runway 18C ILS frequency. First officer localizer showed slight right correction to localizer intercept, captain showed larger correction when approach called and said we were right of course. Captain re-channeled navigation radio and correction jumped left as suggested by approach. First officer radio also corrected left about that time. Rest of approach normal, but wrote up ILS functions of navigation receivers. Maintenance said aircraft showed no history, but other aircraft had complained of localizer problems on runway 18C and they suspected construction equipment work on runway 18L new runway. (Sent air safety report.)
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: BOTH ILS RECEIVERS ON AN ACR MLG FAILED TO ALIGN THEMSELVES PROPERLY. THE TRACON APCH CTLR INTERVENED.
Narrative: ON VECTORS TO ILS RWY 18C MEM. DSNDED TO 3000 FT AND GIVEN 210 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT AND CLRED TO RWY 18C, ILS APCH. FO AND CAPT TUNED TO 108.3 RWY 18C ILS FREQ. FO LOC SHOWED SLIGHT R CORRECTION TO LOC INTERCEPT, CAPT SHOWED LARGER CORRECTION WHEN APCH CALLED AND SAID WE WERE R OF COURSE. CAPT RE-CHANNELED NAV RADIO AND CORRECTION JUMPED L AS SUGGESTED BY APCH. FO RADIO ALSO CORRECTED L ABOUT THAT TIME. REST OF APCH NORMAL, BUT WROTE UP ILS FUNCTIONS OF NAV RECEIVERS. MAINT SAID ACFT SHOWED NO HISTORY, BUT OTHER ACFT HAD COMPLAINED OF LOC PROBS ON RWY 18C AND THEY SUSPECTED CONSTRUCTION EQUIP WORK ON RWY 18L NEW RWY. (SENT AIR SAFETY RPT.)
