Narrative:
Leveled at 11000 ft and told to slow to 210 KIAS from 250 KIAS. Leveled aircraft at 11000 ft put on altitude hold on autoplt and was watching airspeed bleed off when approach control called and told us we were at 10600 ft. We immediately climbed to 11000 ft with no incident. Block iv autoplt on B727 has no altitude hold indication or light that it is engaged. Altitude hold switch was pushed forward. It may have not engaged properly or disengaged on its own with no cockpit indication of malfunction.
