Narrative:
Our clearance was to alb VOR and the gardner 2 arrival to bos. While proceeding to alb ARTCC (center) did not hand us off to the next sector and we lost communication. When we discovered the loss we retrieved a frequency from a sectional and established contact with ZBW who gave us the correct frequency. Upon contact with the controller we were given a heading change of 180 degrees and then a different clearance and arrival. There was no incident or accident involved nor have we heard from any FAA or ATC representative.
