Narrative:
Departing yum for lax. Advised ground control unfamiliar with airport and requested 'progressive' taxi. Ground control brought us to a point midfield on runway 35 and issued instructions to hold short and to contact tower for back taxi to runway 35. Tower issued instructions that were, to my belief, to back taxi on runway 35 then turn? (Right or left) on runway 3L. Being somewhat unsure I asked for clarification 'so you want a right or left turn on runway 3L.' tower responded 'turn right on runway 3.' I entered runway 35, made a right turn to back taxi on runway 3L. After some distance tower informed us that we had been instructed to back taxi on runway 3R. We were also informed that traffic was a military jet on final for runway 3L and that they were going around. Although we saw the traffic once we were on runway 3 we were unable to determine if the traffic was on final for runway 3L or right. Tower had not previously informed us of any traffic.

Title: A LTT ACFT TAXIES FOR TKOF AND IS GIVEN BACK TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. ACFT TAXIES DOWN THE WRONG RWY CAUSING A MIL JET TO GAR.
Narrative: DEPARTING YUM FOR LAX. ADVISED GND CTL UNFAMILIAR WITH ARPT AND REQUESTED 'PROGRESSIVE' TAXI. GND CTL BROUGHT US TO A POINT MIDFIELD ON RWY 35 AND ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD SHORT AND TO CONTACT TWR FOR BACK TAXI TO RWY 35. TWR ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS THAT WERE, TO MY BELIEF, TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 35 THEN TURN? (R OR L) ON RWY 3L. BEING SOMEWHAT UNSURE I ASKED FOR CLARIFICATION 'SO YOU WANT A R OR L TURN ON RWY 3L.' TWR RESPONDED 'TURN R ON RWY 3.' I ENTERED RWY 35, MADE A R TURN TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 3L. AFTER SOME DISTANCE TWR INFORMED US THAT WE HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 3R. WE WERE ALSO INFORMED THAT TFC WAS A MIL JET ON FINAL FOR RWY 3L AND THAT THEY WERE GOING AROUND. ALTHOUGH WE SAW THE TFC ONCE WE WERE ON RWY 3 WE WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE TFC WAS ON FINAL FOR RWY 3L OR R. TWR HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY INFORMED US OF ANY TFC.
