Narrative:

On climb from clt to bos through FL230, right engine fire warning sounded and EICAS message for right engine fire. Requested stop climb at FL240. Engine fire single engine checklist was accomplished and both fire bottles were discharged and fire warning remained illuminated. Fire warning went out on descent around 10000-13000 ft MSL. Emergency was declared and flight diverted gso. Single engine ILS to full stop for inspection. No emergency evacuate/evacuation necessary. Emergency equipment cleared aircraft. ILS approach was necessary. WX was 200 ft overcast and 1 1/4 mi visibility in fog. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the fire warning was definitely not a false warning. The high pressure bleed air housing had cracked and burned the fire warning loop in 2. The engine was a P&west 2037. The airplane was not evacuate/evacuationed as the emergency equipment personnel checked the engine and found no fire. The FAA has not contacted the reporter.
