Narrative:
Logan international airport, boston approach control. Our ASR 9 mode south has been failing resulting in our secondary radar failing. Our immediate fix has been to utilize 'cenrap plus.' this provides us with some altitude information (although unreliable) and enables us to utilize our ARTS tags. During the maintenance of this problem, we have had to go to full cenrap which has no primary radar. Our capacity has been lowered while our workload has increased while working a level V airport. This problem has been with us for 2 weeks now. Some special technicians are here, yet no end is in sight. Is this a national or local problem? And can it be fixed in the near future? I have not been able to find the answers to these questions.
