Narrative:
After 2 legs we began our approach into pit. Captain had already displayed aggression to one controller, telling ATC that they did a bad job and if they disturbed him again he'd have the controller's tickets. ATC told us to slow to 210 KTS and descend to 4000 ft. We did. ATC then pointed out our traffic, a B757 4 mi on localizer/about to join. We saw him and got visual and TCASII TA. I noticed we were gaining and at 3 mi I told the captain I was slowing. ATC asked us our speed (captain, the PNF, was going to tell them of our speed reduction but the frequency was busy). They told us to slow to 180 KTS -- I did -- captain told him we wouldn't. Controller insisted -- captain refused, told ATC B757 was too close. ATC said they would give tower number to pass on to us. Captain told him he wouldn't call them. It was clear that ATC got too close on separation and that B757 quite obviously slowed, but 180 KTS would have worked and so would a 'dale carnegie approach' to ATC.

Title: NON ADHERENCE TO ATC INSTRUCTION BY DH8 PIC REGARDING SPACING BEHIND B757 DURING IN-TRAIL SEPARATION CRITERION ON APCH INTO PIT. CHANCE OF WAKE TURB ENCOUNTER. FLC BEHAVIOR AGGRESSION UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE BY PIC.
Narrative: AFTER 2 LEGS WE BEGAN OUR APCH INTO PIT. CAPT HAD ALREADY DISPLAYED AGGRESSION TO ONE CTLR, TELLING ATC THAT THEY DID A BAD JOB AND IF THEY DISTURBED HIM AGAIN HE'D HAVE THE CTLR'S TICKETS. ATC TOLD US TO SLOW TO 210 KTS AND DSND TO 4000 FT. WE DID. ATC THEN POINTED OUT OUR TFC, A B757 4 MI ON LOC/ABOUT TO JOIN. WE SAW HIM AND GOT VISUAL AND TCASII TA. I NOTICED WE WERE GAINING AND AT 3 MI I TOLD THE CAPT I WAS SLOWING. ATC ASKED US OUR SPD (CAPT, THE PNF, WAS GOING TO TELL THEM OF OUR SPD REDUCTION BUT THE FREQ WAS BUSY). THEY TOLD US TO SLOW TO 180 KTS -- I DID -- CAPT TOLD HIM WE WOULDN'T. CTLR INSISTED -- CAPT REFUSED, TOLD ATC B757 WAS TOO CLOSE. ATC SAID THEY WOULD GIVE TWR NUMBER TO PASS ON TO US. CAPT TOLD HIM HE WOULDN'T CALL THEM. IT WAS CLR THAT ATC GOT TOO CLOSE ON SEPARATION AND THAT B757 QUITE OBVIOUSLY SLOWED, BUT 180 KTS WOULD HAVE WORKED AND SO WOULD A 'DALE CARNEGIE APCH' TO ATC.
