Narrative:
Flying converging ILS to runway 12 dulles. At decision ht told tower we were missed approach. He told us to fly a northeast heading climb to 2000 ft. Approach and tower did an excellent job, we were back on approach to ILS runway 19 very quickly. Approach asked to give them a phone call. They stated we came close to another aircraft on the missed, he was investigating possible controller error. Converging approach usually works great. In this situation WX was rapidly deteriorating and it doesn't work so well below minimums. No complaints from crew as controllers did good job working us over to different landing runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR MLG ON THE CONVERGING ILS RWY 12 APCH MADE A MISSED APCH AT THE DECISION HT AND WAS TOLD TO FLY A NE HEADING AND CLB TO 2000 FT. ACFT WAS THEN VECTORED FOR AN ILS APCH TO RWY 19 AND AFTER LNDG WAS TOLD TO CONTACT APCH CTL VIA PHONE. SUPVR CTLR TOLD RPTR THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBLE CTLR ERROR DURING THE MISSED APCH. RPTR FELT ATC HANDLING WAS GOOD AND SAW NO OTHER TFC DURING HIS GAR OR ON SUBSEQUENT APCH.
