Narrative:

Wingtip damage. During taxi into gate at lax stopped for guideman. After both wingtip guideman were in position with all clear signals, continued to gate and parked. A deadheading crew member deplaning informed me he thought the left wingtip had scraped a loader as we parked. I inspected the left wingtip and found yellow paint adhering to the wingtip with one of the static wicks missing. None of the ground crew I asked saw anything. Entered the damage in logbook and called maintenance. I recommend that this gate have lines painted or repainted to be visible for equipment to be behind.
