Narrative:

In sum: low time private pilot in a C152 entered clouds unintentionally and began to accumulate airframe ice. He was receiving flight following from ZSE who offered vectors to puw which reporter accepted. Shortly, aircraft was in solid IMC and the windshield was iced over. Pilot experienced spatial disorientation and entered a spiral with his tachometer red-lined. Upon recovery, he reversed course without clearance. He stumbled upon a hole in the clouds and descended through it. ARTCC changed him to geg TRACON who gave him vectors. He finally became reoriented and found his way to st maries and landed. He credits ATC help for his survival.
