Narrative:
En route from mkk to ogg, we were handed from ZHN to ogg approach. We saw the field approximately 15 NM (northerly arrival) and we were cleared for the visual to runway 5. I was the PF and the end of the runway was difficult to define because of the morning sun and the slight haze. I was preoccupied in finding the runway end and preparing to land (with the winds at 20 KTS, gusts to 25 KTS). We were aware of the situation once off the active runway because communication #1 was still on approach. I asked the captain if he got landing clearance and he was not sure. No action has been taken that we know of. Supplemental information from acn 361684: after we landed, we became aware there had been no handoff to maui tower. We had failed to get a landing clearance.
