Narrative:
Baron (B58). Clearance delivery provided IFR route with instructions to fly the logan 1 departure. Logan 1 departure from runways 22R/left requires left turn to 140 degrees. Tower cleared us immediately onto runway with clearance to depart. Upon departure we executed logan 1 procedure and was told that we should maintain runway heading. All too often clearance delivery provides a route that is amended once airborne. This can be complex for single pilot under IMC conditions at a location not regularly frequented. We were cleared to fly the logan 1 departure without amendment. Tower did quickly sequence us onto the runway with immediate departure. I did not receive instructions to fly runway heading. Communications between tower, clearance delivery and pilot need to be coordinated. Once the turn to 140 degrees was executed tower instructed us to fly runway heading. This indicated to me that a communication issue created the problem.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF A BEECHCRAFT BARON, BE58, FAILED TO FLY RWY HEADING DUE TO NOT RECEIVING AMENDED CLRNC RTE FROM TWR CTLR. RPTR SUSPECTED A COORD PROB EXISTED.
Narrative: BARON (B58). CLRNC DELIVERY PROVIDED IFR RTE WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO FLY THE LOGAN 1 DEP. LOGAN 1 DEP FROM RWYS 22R/L REQUIRES L TURN TO 140 DEGS. TWR CLRED US IMMEDIATELY ONTO RWY WITH CLRNC TO DEPART. UPON DEP WE EXECUTED LOGAN 1 PROC AND WAS TOLD THAT WE SHOULD MAINTAIN RWY HEADING. ALL TOO OFTEN CLRNC DELIVERY PROVIDES A RTE THAT IS AMENDED ONCE AIRBORNE. THIS CAN BE COMPLEX FOR SINGLE PLT UNDER IMC CONDITIONS AT A LOCATION NOT REGULARLY FREQUENTED. WE WERE CLRED TO FLY THE LOGAN 1 DEP WITHOUT AMENDMENT. TWR DID QUICKLY SEQUENCE US ONTO THE RWY WITH IMMEDIATE DEP. I DID NOT RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS TO FLY RWY HEADING. COMS BTWN TWR, CLRNC DELIVERY AND PLT NEED TO BE COORDINATED. ONCE THE TURN TO 140 DEGS WAS EXECUTED TWR INSTRUCTED US TO FLY RWY HEADING. THIS INDICATED TO ME THAT A COM ISSUE CREATED THE PROB.
