Narrative:
I did not have clearance to enter class B airspace, yet I was already in class B airspace when I called up approach. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time due to a tailwind which I did not compute into my reckoning. Next time, I would be more careful with my pilotage and dead reckoning and become better acquainted with the controled airspace on my future trips. (Note: I had planned to call up approach for the class B transition.)
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LOW TIME PVT PLT FLIES INTO N90 CLASS B AIRSPACE WITHOUT CALLING FOR AUTH. CLAIMS HE HAD UNEXPECTED TAILWINDS THAT DROVE HIM INTO CLASS B BEFORE HE WAS READY TO CALL APCH CTL.
