Narrative:

Reported from koa en route to hnl and we called center to tell them we were climbing to FL230 which they acknowledged. Upon reaching FL230, center queried us about our assigned altitude at which time we realized we had been assigned in our clearance the standard flight level of FL220. The copilot had set into our altitude reminder FL230 inadvertently. He had gotten mixed up on the direction of flight. Inbound to koa our standard altitude is FL230, outbound our standard altitude is FL220.
