Title: B737-300 ACFT ON VISUAL APCH, FLC OBSERVED FLAPS WOULD NOT EXTEND BEYOND 5 DEGS THOUGH THE HANDLE WAS IN THE 10 DEG SLOT. A MISSED APCH WAS EXECUTED, THEIR COMPANY MAINT WAS CONTACTED, PERFORMED ALTERNATE FLAP IRREGULAR PROC AND LOWERED FLAPS TO 15 DEGS. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE BRIEFED TO PREPARE THE CABIN FOR POSSIBLE EVAC, LONGEST RWY WAS CHOSEN. EMER VEHICLES REQUESTED AND THE FLT LANDED UNEVENTFULLY.
