Narrative:

Conducting a visual approach to runway 4R bos. Crew noticed flaps not deploying to commanded position. Executed missed approach. Performed alternate flap irregular procedure. Followed all company sops, requested equipment at bos, prepared cabin for possible evacuate/evacuation. Contacted air carrier maintenance for support, no help in correcting the problem. Flap is partial flap confign was performed to landing at bos. No further complications.

Title: B737-300 ACFT ON VISUAL APCH, FLC OBSERVED FLAPS WOULD NOT EXTEND BEYOND 5 DEGS THOUGH THE HANDLE WAS IN THE 10 DEG SLOT. A MISSED APCH WAS EXECUTED, THEIR COMPANY MAINT WAS CONTACTED, PERFORMED ALTERNATE FLAP IRREGULAR PROC AND LOWERED FLAPS TO 15 DEGS. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE BRIEFED TO PREPARE THE CABIN FOR POSSIBLE EVAC, LONGEST RWY WAS CHOSEN. EMER VEHICLES REQUESTED AND THE FLT LANDED UNEVENTFULLY.
