Narrative:

Center switched us to 128.32. I was alone in the cockpit and on oxygen. I recall the mask was uncomfortable when I checked in on the new frequency. Just after passing tqa on the STAR, center called us at XX09Z and verified that we were level at FL330. He also said we had not checked in. No descent clearance or turn was given. We saw no conflict on TCASII, nor did we hear instructions for another aircraft to avoid us. I asked center if we needed to record this event, and he replied in the affirmative.
