Narrative:

We were given the hornet 8 departure. After takeoff the departure control asked if we had turned to the 025 degree heading as stipulated for runway 36R. We told him no, and he correctly pointed out that we should have. We had briefed the departure at the gate, but simply missed the heading portion of the departure. The corrective action would have been to have both pilots looking at the plate rather than one briefing the other without looking at it.
