Narrative:

We were on a right base entry to runway 28L. Tower reported traffic 1 O'clock 2 mi, 10 seconds went by then tower reported traffic 1 mi. We could not see the traffic so I advised the tower that we would make a left 360 degree turn. Tower approved. After about 50 degree of heading change I looked up and saw the traffic slightly higher than us and coming directly at us. He passed overhead then landed on runway 28R. The problem was the initial call to us for traffic at 1 O'clock was incorrect, the traffic was actually at 10-11 O'clock.
