Narrative:
I arrived in ZZZ about XA00 wednesday. The left engine was hanging from engine hoist, waiting for engine stand. Engine stand arrived. Mechanics secured engine to stand. I inspected firewall and cowling. I wrote 2 report cards. We also had engine mount isolators to change. Report cards completed and engine mount isolators changed. We were ready to install svcable engine. Svcable engine arrived after XM00. We were ready to install svcable engine and found torque wrench and engine hoist were out of calibration, past due yesterday. The FAA inspector noted this and asked to look at my a&P license. The license was provided and he also noted license. At this time the crew stopped working on engine change. We notified company of situation. We later received an extension authority/authorized per qa senior director. We resumed engine change per job procedure card and completed engine change. Upon completion of paperwork and logbook signoffs, I flew back to my maintenance base on ferry flight of same aircraft, engine change was accomplished.
