Narrative:

FAA inspector questioned the training method used in emergency drill training of the cockpit emergency hatch. A retraining of the first officer in question resulted, after a discussion with the FAA inspector. This retraining occurred under the FAA inspector's observation and guidance and the instruction was conducted under a manner in which the inspector recommended. Since then the company has changed the manner in which emergency drills are conducted as well as retraining all pilots who have not opened the cockpit emergency hatch.

Title: CHK AIRMAN OF AN ACR FOR THE ATR42 TYPE ACFT CONDUCTED RETRAINING, AS WELL AS PRACTICE, FOR ALL FLC MEMBERS IN THE PROCS OF REMOVING THE EMER COCKPIT HATCH. THIS ACTION WAS CAUSED BY THE RESULTS OF AN FAA INSPECTOR'S QUESTIONS TO A FO DURING A SURVEILLANCE INSPECTION.

Narrative: FAA INSPECTOR QUESTIONED THE TRAINING METHOD USED IN EMER DRILL TRAINING OF THE COCKPIT EMER HATCH. A RETRAINING OF THE FO IN QUESTION RESULTED, AFTER A DISCUSSION WITH THE FAA INSPECTOR. THIS RETRAINING OCCURRED UNDER THE FAA INSPECTOR'S OBSERVATION AND GUIDANCE AND THE INSTRUCTION WAS CONDUCTED UNDER A MANNER IN WHICH THE INSPECTOR RECOMMENDED. SINCE THEN THE COMPANY HAS CHANGED THE MANNER IN WHICH EMER DRILLS ARE CONDUCTED AS WELL AS RETRAINING ALL PLTS WHO HAVE NOT OPENED THE COCKPIT EMER HATCH.
