Narrative:
This was the first night flight of the week, first night transferring sleep patterns from night to sleeping during day, I was very tired and fatigued. I was flying single pilot. While taxiing to the runway I was cleared for takeoff. While running the before takeoff check and making the turn onto the runway I aligned the aircraft slightly right of the centerline. I finished the before takeoff check and added power. As I glanced inside to set the torques I used my peripheral vision to center the aircraft on the runway. I mistook the r-hand runway edge lights for the centerline lights and struck approximately 2 lights with the right propeller. I immediately realized my mistake, aborted takeoff, informed the tower and returned to my parking spot on the ramp. I believe this accident was caused by pilot fatigue, rushing the taxiing of the aircraft, and similar colored edge and centerline lights. At this point I am unsure of the FAA's ruling on the incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR FREIGHTER PLT IN AN LTT LINES UP ON THE R EDGE OF THE RWY AND STRUCK 2 RWY LIGHTS WITH THE R PROP. NO INJURIES.
Narrative: THIS WAS THE FIRST NIGHT FLT OF THE WK, FIRST NIGHT TRANSFERRING SLEEP PATTERNS FROM NIGHT TO SLEEPING DURING DAY, I WAS VERY TIRED AND FATIGUED. I WAS FLYING SINGLE PLT. WHILE TAXIING TO THE RWY I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. WHILE RUNNING THE BEFORE TKOF CHK AND MAKING THE TURN ONTO THE RWY I ALIGNED THE ACFT SLIGHTLY R OF THE CTRLINE. I FINISHED THE BEFORE TKOF CHK AND ADDED PWR. AS I GLANCED INSIDE TO SET THE TORQUES I USED MY PERIPHERAL VISION TO CTR THE ACFT ON THE RWY. I MISTOOK THE R-HAND RWY EDGE LIGHTS FOR THE CTRLINE LIGHTS AND STRUCK APPROX 2 LIGHTS WITH THE R PROP. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED MY MISTAKE, ABORTED TKOF, INFORMED THE TWR AND RETURNED TO MY PARKING SPOT ON THE RAMP. I BELIEVE THIS ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY PLT FATIGUE, RUSHING THE TAXIING OF THE ACFT, AND SIMILAR COLORED EDGE AND CTRLINE LIGHTS. AT THIS POINT I AM UNSURE OF THE FAA'S RULING ON THE INCIDENT.
