Narrative:
While being vectored for a straight-in ILS approach into sea, the first officer (who is an experienced captain flying in the right seat so the captain in the left seat could get off of high minimums) very briefly lost radio communications, was unable to receive or transmit. The captain was the PF and accepted the clearance for the approach. The first officer then got all radios back and was able to transmit and receive. We broke out of IMC about 3000 ft AGL. The first officer was still distraction by what might have happened and I don't think approach control ever handed us off to tower. After landing at sea approach control called and told us to switch to tower.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A DHC-8 LANDS AT SEA, WA, WITHOUT CLRNC TO LAND.
Narrative: WHILE BEING VECTORED FOR A STRAIGHT-IN ILS APCH INTO SEA, THE FO (WHO IS AN EXPERIENCED CAPT FLYING IN THE R SEAT SO THE CAPT IN THE L SEAT COULD GET OFF OF HIGH MINIMUMS) VERY BRIEFLY LOST RADIO COMS, WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE OR XMIT. THE CAPT WAS THE PF AND ACCEPTED THE CLRNC FOR THE APCH. THE FO THEN GOT ALL RADIOS BACK AND WAS ABLE TO XMIT AND RECEIVE. WE BROKE OUT OF IMC ABOUT 3000 FT AGL. THE FO WAS STILL DISTR BY WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED AND I DON'T THINK APCH CTL EVER HANDED US OFF TO TWR. AFTER LNDG AT SEA APCH CTL CALLED AND TOLD US TO SWITCH TO TWR.
