Narrative:
Departed atl via atl 4 departure, vectored to gqo to intercept volls 4 arrival to bna. At approximately 50 mi from bna, we were handed over to bna approach. About 2 mins later, approach asked us where we were going. Then we looked and realized that there was approximately 35 degrees difference between captain and first officer's compasses. Bna approach informed us that we were 4.5 DME south of course. The captain assumed command of aircraft and continued to bna without further incident. Upon landing, first officer's compass error was entered in aircraft logbook.
