Narrative:

ATC told us to descend to cross 25 NM north of julian VOR at FL240. We were high by 5000 ft or 6000 ft. I think if we had had both vors tuned to julian, there would have been less of a chance of missing the descent point. This was a new route, las to san, and the omega route wasn't preprogrammed. The captain was distraction by trying to program in a fix and the box wasn't taking it. I was distraction by calling in our ETA to san and getting the gate assignment.

Title: ACR MLG, USING OMEGA FOR DSCNT AND DISTANCE INFO, FAILS TO MAKE THEIR ALT XING RESTR.

Narrative: ATC TOLD US TO DSND TO CROSS 25 NM N OF JULIAN VOR AT FL240. WE WERE HIGH BY 5000 FT OR 6000 FT. I THINK IF WE HAD HAD BOTH VORS TUNED TO JULIAN, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS OF A CHANCE OF MISSING THE DSCNT POINT. THIS WAS A NEW RTE, LAS TO SAN, AND THE OMEGA RTE WASN'T PREPROGRAMMED. THE CAPT WAS DISTR BY TRYING TO PROGRAM IN A FIX AND THE BOX WASN'T TAKING IT. I WAS DISTR BY CALLING IN OUR ETA TO SAN AND GETTING THE GATE ASSIGNMENT.
