Narrative:

I flew over gorman VOR in california at 8500 ft. I had wanted to use lhs VOR for xref to confirm I was directly over gmn, but I could not receive lhs. I had been receiving lhs for most of my outbound trip. I later learned that there was an fdc NOTAM on lhs. I have just learned that my preflight workload will be much heavier than I ever thought it would be. I now know that I must look up every NAVAID I want to use in the fdc NOTAMS. Extremely laborious. Maybe NOTAMS of this type should be included in the standard briefing.
