Narrative:
During cruise flight en route from lax-ogg a call from a flight attendant informed us that we had an extra passenger on board. The aircraft had every seat filled and an extra passenger was hiding in the aft lavatory. Customer service representatives should use a better system for knowing how many seats versus passenger exist on an aircraft. The flight attendants (who were aware of the situation prior to takeoff) should be disciplined for insubordination to set an example. The extra passenger was the spouse of one of the flight attendants.
