Narrative:

Cleared to taxi to runway 36C. While taxiing to runway 36C, I became distraction due to a problem with the left air conditioning system. Due to my focus inside the cockpit, my field of view outside the aircraft was approximately 100-200 ft. As a result of this, I made a turn onto a new taxiway J that went to the new, and not open, runway 36R. Taxiway J south of taxiway P had no markings to indicate that it was closed. ATIS did not indicate that taxiway J past taxiway P was not operational. A quick glance at the mem airport page appears that taxiway J connects to runway 36C at taxiway east. A close look indicates that it does not.

Title: AN ACR LGT FLC TAXIES ONTO THE WRONG RWY AT MEM. RPTR ADMITS THAT HE MISREAD THE ARPT CHART.

Narrative: CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 36C. WHILE TAXIING TO RWY 36C, I BECAME DISTR DUE TO A PROB WITH THE L AIR CONDITIONING SYS. DUE TO MY FOCUS INSIDE THE COCKPIT, MY FIELD OF VIEW OUTSIDE THE ACFT WAS APPROX 100-200 FT. AS A RESULT OF THIS, I MADE A TURN ONTO A NEW TXWY J THAT WENT TO THE NEW, AND NOT OPEN, RWY 36R. TXWY J S OF TXWY P HAD NO MARKINGS TO INDICATE THAT IT WAS CLOSED. ATIS DID NOT INDICATE THAT TXWY J PAST TXWY P WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. A QUICK GLANCE AT THE MEM ARPT PAGE APPEARS THAT TXWY J CONNECTS TO RWY 36C AT TXWY E. A CLOSE LOOK INDICATES THAT IT DOES NOT.
