Narrative:
At low altitude on final approach to runway 13 at crp, a #1 engine fire warning illuminated. Due to the low altitude and close proximity to runway 13, I thought the safest and most prudent action would be to land the aircraft and deal with any fire on the ground. This action is contrary to company policy which would call for shutting the engine down and extinguishing the fire in the air and then commence a simple engine approach and landing. Since we were on final, fully configured for landing, within 2 mi of touchdown, I decided the safest action would be to continue to a normal landing. The fire warning extinguished prior to or at touchdown so no further emergency checklist was required. We did shut the engine down so that crash fire rescue equipment could inspect it prior to taxiing to the gate. Emergency was declared to tower at the first indications of the engine fire and crash fire rescue equipment was requested.

Title: ATR72 FLC HAS A FIRE WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATE ON 2 MI FINAL APCH. THEY DEEM IT MOST PRUDENT TO CONTINUE AND LAND. COMPANY POLICY INDICATES ENG SHUTDOWN AND EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE IN THE AIR.
Narrative: AT LOW ALT ON FINAL APCH TO RWY 13 AT CRP, A #1 ENG FIRE WARNING ILLUMINATED. DUE TO THE LOW ALT AND CLOSE PROX TO RWY 13, I THOUGHT THE SAFEST AND MOST PRUDENT ACTION WOULD BE TO LAND THE ACFT AND DEAL WITH ANY FIRE ON THE GND. THIS ACTION IS CONTRARY TO COMPANY POLICY WHICH WOULD CALL FOR SHUTTING THE ENG DOWN AND EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE IN THE AIR AND THEN COMMENCE A SIMPLE ENG APCH AND LNDG. SINCE WE WERE ON FINAL, FULLY CONFIGURED FOR LNDG, WITHIN 2 MI OF TOUCHDOWN, I DECIDED THE SAFEST ACTION WOULD BE TO CONTINUE TO A NORMAL LNDG. THE FIRE WARNING EXTINGUISHED PRIOR TO OR AT TOUCHDOWN SO NO FURTHER EMER CHKLIST WAS REQUIRED. WE DID SHUT THE ENG DOWN SO THAT CFR COULD INSPECT IT PRIOR TO TAXIING TO THE GATE. EMER WAS DECLARED TO TWR AT THE FIRST INDICATIONS OF THE ENG FIRE AND CFR WAS REQUESTED.
