Narrative:

Approaching mia from southeast, fowee 3 arrival. Vectored to right downwind for runway 9R. Requested, and given visual approach runway 9R by mia approach control. Landed runway 9R, cleared runway and on switching radio to ground control realized I had not received a hand-over to tower. I contacted tower and was cleared to parking with no comment from tower about landing. Human performance considerations: this landing was conclusion of 17 hour duty day and 10.1 hours flying in 2 legs international flying from brazil. We were arriving with minimum fuel due to thunderstorm avoidance over caribbean. We saw airport on right downwind and were advised by approach control that we would be first for landing if we went visual approach and kept it in close. If not, we would be vectored on long downwind. We requested and received visual approach clearance for runway 9R. WX was VFR, 2000 ft scattered 3000 ft scattered 10 mi visibility in haze. No visual problem on downwind but turning final toward rising sun caused some difficulty keeping visual with runway. While concentrating on approach we failed to notice that we received no hand-over to tower control. Adding to our fatigue was that our duty day began the day before and continued through our normal sleep period. There was no conflict with other traffic.

Title: B747-200 ACFT GIVEN CLOSE IN VISUAL APCH DUE TO MINIMUM FUEL AND FORGOT TO CONTACT TWR FOR LNDG CLRNC. NO COMMENT MADE BY TWR AFTER LNDG.

Narrative: APCHING MIA FROM SE, FOWEE 3 ARR. VECTORED TO R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 9R. REQUESTED, AND GIVEN VISUAL APCH RWY 9R BY MIA APCH CTL. LANDED RWY 9R, CLRED RWY AND ON SWITCHING RADIO TO GND CTL REALIZED I HAD NOT RECEIVED A HAND-OVER TO TWR. I CONTACTED TWR AND WAS CLRED TO PARKING WITH NO COMMENT FROM TWR ABOUT LNDG. HUMAN PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: THIS LNDG WAS CONCLUSION OF 17 HR DUTY DAY AND 10.1 HRS FLYING IN 2 LEGS INTL FLYING FROM BRAZIL. WE WERE ARRIVING WITH MINIMUM FUEL DUE TO TSTM AVOIDANCE OVER CARIBBEAN. WE SAW ARPT ON R DOWNWIND AND WERE ADVISED BY APCH CTL THAT WE WOULD BE FIRST FOR LNDG IF WE WENT VISUAL APCH AND KEPT IT IN CLOSE. IF NOT, WE WOULD BE VECTORED ON LONG DOWNWIND. WE REQUESTED AND RECEIVED VISUAL APCH CLRNC FOR RWY 9R. WX WAS VFR, 2000 FT SCATTERED 3000 FT SCATTERED 10 MI VISIBILITY IN HAZE. NO VISUAL PROB ON DOWNWIND BUT TURNING FINAL TOWARD RISING SUN CAUSED SOME DIFFICULTY KEEPING VISUAL WITH RWY. WHILE CONCENTRATING ON APCH WE FAILED TO NOTICE THAT WE RECEIVED NO HAND-OVER TO TWR CTL. ADDING TO OUR FATIGUE WAS THAT OUR DUTY DAY BEGAN THE DAY BEFORE AND CONTINUED THROUGH OUR NORMAL SLEEP PERIOD. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER TFC.
