Narrative:
Maintenance previously performed on aircraft aft entry door. En route climb phl-bgr aft entry annunciator illuminated. Had crew member check condition of door and latch. Door closed, pressurization normal but handle could not be stowed properly. Pilots handbook consulted with resultant decision to land at nearest suitable airport. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a B737-200 and the door had been worked on prior to departure, the lower door stop adjusted. The reporter advised the aircraft was not pressurized after the door stop was adjusted and the reporter questioned maintenance why a pressurization check was not accomplished. The reporter was told the check was not in the maintenance manual. The reporter related maintenance did not advise the corrective action on the door.

Title: A B737-200 ENRTE CLB DIVERTED DUE TO AFT ENTRY DOOR WARNING LIGHT AND ON VISUAL CHK OF THE DOOR THE OPERATING HANDLE WOULD NOT STOW IN THE LOCK POS.
Narrative: MAINT PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED ON ACFT AFT ENTRY DOOR. ENRTE CLB PHL-BGR AFT ENTRY ANNUNCIATOR ILLUMINATED. HAD CREW MEMBER CHK CONDITION OF DOOR AND LATCH. DOOR CLOSED, PRESSURIZATION NORMAL BUT HANDLE COULD NOT BE STOWED PROPERLY. PLTS HANDBOOK CONSULTED WITH RESULTANT DECISION TO LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS A B737-200 AND THE DOOR HAD BEEN WORKED ON PRIOR TO DEP, THE LOWER DOOR STOP ADJUSTED. THE RPTR ADVISED THE ACFT WAS NOT PRESSURIZED AFTER THE DOOR STOP WAS ADJUSTED AND THE RPTR QUESTIONED MAINT WHY A PRESSURIZATION CHK WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED. THE RPTR WAS TOLD THE CHK WAS NOT IN THE MAINT MANUAL. THE RPTR RELATED MAINT DID NOT ADVISE THE CORRECTIVE ACTION ON THE DOOR.
