Narrative:
Location: 40 mi south of didle on A300 airway, encountered solid line of thunderstorms. Asked for WX deviation west of course for 30 mi. ATC granted the 30 mi west deviation. Realizing I needed to 60 mi west to get around the WX, I requested 30 mi more and ATC granted it. At about 45 mi west of course, ATC came back to advise me that now they could not grant me the 60 mi I needed to get around the WX due to a military warning area. Unable to turn around because of being boxed in by the WX, I was committed, not by choice, to my flight path for getting around the WX. Advised the ATC controller I was invoking captain's emergency authority/authorized at this time and would have to continue on my course. She concurred and advised us to squawk 7700, which we did. We also transmitted on 121.5 our position altitude and heading. Called back on course 10 mi prior to huber on A300 airway. Flight XXX was behind us, heard the conversation and elected to go over to airway 523. Captain called me on the company frequency later, advising me he thought I had done the correct decision.

WE ALSO XMITTED ON 121.5 OUR POS ALT AND HDG. CALLED BACK ON COURSE 10 MI PRIOR TO HUBER ON A300 AIRWAY. FLT XXX WAS BEHIND US, HEARD THE CONVERSATION AND ELECTED TO GO OVER TO AIRWAY 523. CAPT CALLED ME ON THE COMPANY FREQ LATER, ADVISING ME HE THOUGHT I HAD DONE THE CORRECT DECISION.
