Narrative:
As we departed sjc on the sjc 8 departure tower cleared a single engine aircraft to turn under our departure path if he had us in sight. We were not informed but I heard the instructions and saw the aircraft turn into us and slightly below us. The first officer was flying and started his turn. He was concerned because he could not see the aircraft as we were belly up to him. At that time the TCASII RA told us to climb. Since we were at maximum climb and turn already with the departure we really could not do much more than we were and by now the aircraft was out of our visual reference. I feel more spacing or coordination should be used in the departure with runways so close together.

Title: A SUPER DC9-80 RECEIVES A TCASII RA UPON DEP FROM SJC AT 2000 FT.
Narrative: AS WE DEPARTED SJC ON THE SJC 8 DEP TWR CLRED A SINGLE ENG ACFT TO TURN UNDER OUR DEP PATH IF HE HAD US IN SIGHT. WE WERE NOT INFORMED BUT I HEARD THE INSTRUCTIONS AND SAW THE ACFT TURN INTO US AND SLIGHTLY BELOW US. THE FO WAS FLYING AND STARTED HIS TURN. HE WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE HE COULD NOT SEE THE ACFT AS WE WERE BELLY UP TO HIM. AT THAT TIME THE TCASII RA TOLD US TO CLB. SINCE WE WERE AT MAX CLB AND TURN ALREADY WITH THE DEP WE REALLY COULD NOT DO MUCH MORE THAN WE WERE AND BY NOW THE ACFT WAS OUT OF OUR VISUAL REF. I FEEL MORE SPACING OR COORD SHOULD BE USED IN THE DEP WITH RWYS SO CLOSE TOGETHER.
