Narrative:
Arthur kill SID, new SID as of aug/xx/97. 11 days ago, first time flying this departure, we did not intercept the sbj 100 degree radial from the 250 degree heading. No conflict that we know of. The depiction for biggy intersection is vague. The transitions in the description part has 'biggy expect vectors via sbj VOR' but in another part says 'parke, lanna, biggy, intercept sbj R-100.' both first officer and myself missed the intercept wording, no plan view to help show departure to sbj. Sids should not have conflicting instructions. Should not say 'expect' in one part and 'intercept' in another. A thorough reading of this SID would still have left us confused, but at least we could have asked for clarification from departure. Fatigue was probably our biggest contributing factor for not catching this screwed up SID.

Title: FLC OF A B737 FAILED TO FOLLOW THE ASSIGNED SID DUE TO BEING UNFAMILIAR WITH THE DEPICTION OF A NEW SID. ATC INTERVENED TO BRING THEM ONTO THE CORRECT TRACK HEADING.
