Narrative:
On the evening of aug/wed/97, I was flying a corporate aircraft for hire. During 1 of my 4 flying legs I had hit something with the left propeller during taxi. The WX conditions at toronto and cleveland were thunderstorm and heavy rainshowers. The visibility was poor due to the heavy rainshowers. I had completed the trip returning to evansville, in. Upon landing and postflt inspection I discovered that the left propeller tips had received some damage. I reported the damage to maintenance and was told the propeller had substantial damage so I grounded the aircraft. 1 of 2 things may have occurred. First, during taxi while using the beta propeller mode I may have picked up some debris on a taxiway or ramp that could have been pulled into the propeller. Second, I may have hit a runway or taxi light while taxiing the aircraft. However, if I hit a runway or taxi light the aircraft would have to had gone off the pavement and I feel that I would have definitely known this.
