Narrative:

Location on taxiway a eastbound holding short of runway 18L. After landing on runway 13R at dfw we had crossed runway 18R and were holding short of runway 18L on taxiway a. Several other aircraft were also holding short of runway 18L at other txwys waiting to cross from west to east. After waiting through several departures the tower controller cleared our flight and several other flts to cross runway 18L and stated that there was no need to acknowledge the transmission and that he would observe our crossing. The aircraft to our left on taxiway B had pulled forward enough to obstruct our view of the departure end of runway 18L. We hesitated long enough to see beyond the aircraft on taxiway B and observed another aircraft on its takeoff roll on runway 18L. We then transmitted to the tower that we were holding short of runway 18L. The tower called for the aircraft to abort its takeoff. We were holding short of runway 18L but were several ft beyond the hold short line. We felt uncomfortable with the transmission from the tower stating that there was no need to acknowledge the runway crossing clearance since usually this requires acknowledgement. Supplemental information from acn 378976: flight on takeoff roll at dfw aborted the takeoff to avoid another aircraft crossing down-field. The controller also instructed to abort, but in the panic he used the incorrect flight number. The abort was uneventful and we didn't get close to the other aircraft. (The controller cleared us to takeoff while crossing another flight down-field.)

Title: THE LCL CTLR CLRED SEVERAL ACFT TO CROSS RWY 18L, THEN MISTAKENLY CLRED AN ACR ACFT FOR TKOF ON THE SAME RWY. A TAXIING FK10 CROSSED THE HOLD LINE, BUT HELD SHORT OF THE RWY AFTER OBSERVING THE DEPARTING ACFT START TO ROLL. THE DEP ACFT ABORTED TKOF.

Narrative: LOCATION ON TXWY A EBOUND HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 18L. AFTER LNDG ON RWY 13R AT DFW WE HAD CROSSED RWY 18R AND WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 18L ON TXWY A. SEVERAL OTHER ACFT WERE ALSO HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 18L AT OTHER TXWYS WAITING TO CROSS FROM W TO E. AFTER WAITING THROUGH SEVERAL DEPS THE TWR CTLR CLRED OUR FLT AND SEVERAL OTHER FLTS TO CROSS RWY 18L AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE XMISSION AND THAT HE WOULD OBSERVE OUR XING. THE ACFT TO OUR L ON TXWY B HAD PULLED FORWARD ENOUGH TO OBSTRUCT OUR VIEW OF THE DEP END OF RWY 18L. WE HESITATED LONG ENOUGH TO SEE BEYOND THE ACFT ON TXWY B AND OBSERVED ANOTHER ACFT ON ITS TKOF ROLL ON RWY 18L. WE THEN XMITTED TO THE TWR THAT WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 18L. THE TWR CALLED FOR THE ACFT TO ABORT ITS TKOF. WE WERE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 18L BUT WERE SEVERAL FT BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. WE FELT UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE XMISSION FROM THE TWR STATING THAT THERE WAS NO NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE RWY XING CLRNC SINCE USUALLY THIS REQUIRES ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 378976: FLT ON TKOF ROLL AT DFW ABORTED THE TKOF TO AVOID ANOTHER ACFT XING DOWN-FIELD. THE CTLR ALSO INSTRUCTED TO ABORT, BUT IN THE PANIC HE USED THE INCORRECT FLT NUMBER. THE ABORT WAS UNEVENTFUL AND WE DIDN'T GET CLOSE TO THE OTHER ACFT. (THE CTLR CLRED US TO TKOF WHILE XING ANOTHER FLT DOWN-FIELD.)
