Narrative:
On departure from buf, departure control gave us a clearance to climb to 16000 ft, heading 085 degrees for climb, intercept V14. Passing buf VOR, turned to 120 degree heading to intercept. Departure then asked our heading as a target appeared on TCASII 10 degrees left, 1000 ft higher, but descending. Departure then said this heading was ok and to continue. We were switched to center before I could verify what he wanted. Supplemental information from acn 379730: on climb out of buf, ATC assigned heading of 085 degrees to intercept V14. After passing VOR, we turned to heading 120 degrees to intercept. ATC then questioned our heading and referenced traffic about 12 O'clock 5 mi passing from right to left.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR LGT FLC, APPARENTLY, OVERSHOT AIRWAY V14 AND WERE TURNING BACK TOWARD IT WHEN THE DEP CTLR INQUIRED ABOUT THEIR HEADING AND POINTED OUT TFC ABOUT 5 NM AWAY.
Narrative: ON DEP FROM BUF, DEP CTL GAVE US A CLRNC TO CLB TO 16000 FT, HDG 085 DEGS FOR CLB, INTERCEPT V14. PASSING BUF VOR, TURNED TO 120 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT. DEP THEN ASKED OUR HEADING AS A TARGET APPEARED ON TCASII 10 DEGS L, 1000 FT HIGHER, BUT DSNDING. DEP THEN SAID THIS HEADING WAS OK AND TO CONTINUE. WE WERE SWITCHED TO CTR BEFORE I COULD VERIFY WHAT HE WANTED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 379730: ON CLBOUT OF BUF, ATC ASSIGNED HDG OF 085 DEGS TO INTERCEPT V14. AFTER PASSING VOR, WE TURNED TO HDG 120 DEGS TO INTERCEPT. ATC THEN QUESTIONED OUR HEADING AND REFED TFC ABOUT 12 O'CLOCK 5 MI PASSING FROM R TO L.
