Narrative:
Had just completed a visual approach to runway 18 at albert whitted. After touchdown and cleaning up the plane for the intended touch and go, I made the decision that not enough runway remained and aborted the takeoff. When brakes were applied to stop aircraft, only right brake responded, sending aircraft towards right side of the runway. I attempted to keep aircraft on runway by applying left rudder and continuing to use the right brake. However, aircraft was not decelerating fast enough to avoid over-running the end of the runway and plunging into tampa bay. I elected to veer aircraft off the right side of the runway and into the grass, hoping to slow down quicker. I was able to get aircraft between 2 sets of taxi lights along the left side of an adjacent taxiway, but damaged one taxi light on the far side. No other damage to aircraft nor any injuries. Another pilot in the right seat was able to secure the engine and fuel before exiting the runway, probably avoiding damage to propeller or engine. Believed cause is a faulty seal on left brake.

Title: SMA PLT GOES OFF THE RWY AT SPG, FL, WHEN THE L BRAKE FAILS DURING AN ABORTED TOUCH AND GO. ACFT CONTACTED AND DAMAGED A TAXI LIGHT.
Narrative: HAD JUST COMPLETED A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 18 AT ALBERT WHITTED. AFTER TOUCHDOWN AND CLEANING UP THE PLANE FOR THE INTENDED TOUCH AND GO, I MADE THE DECISION THAT NOT ENOUGH RWY REMAINED AND ABORTED THE TKOF. WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO STOP ACFT, ONLY R BRAKE RESPONDED, SENDING ACFT TOWARDS R SIDE OF THE RWY. I ATTEMPTED TO KEEP ACFT ON RWY BY APPLYING L RUDDER AND CONTINUING TO USE THE R BRAKE. HOWEVER, ACFT WAS NOT DECELERATING FAST ENOUGH TO AVOID OVER-RUNNING THE END OF THE RWY AND PLUNGING INTO TAMPA BAY. I ELECTED TO VEER ACFT OFF THE R SIDE OF THE RWY AND INTO THE GRASS, HOPING TO SLOW DOWN QUICKER. I WAS ABLE TO GET ACFT BTWN 2 SETS OF TAXI LIGHTS ALONG THE L SIDE OF AN ADJACENT TXWY, BUT DAMAGED ONE TAXI LIGHT ON THE FAR SIDE. NO OTHER DAMAGE TO ACFT NOR ANY INJURIES. ANOTHER PLT IN THE R SEAT WAS ABLE TO SECURE THE ENG AND FUEL BEFORE EXITING THE RWY, PROBABLY AVOIDING DAMAGE TO PROP OR ENG. BELIEVED CAUSE IS A FAULTY SEAL ON L BRAKE.
