Narrative:
Air carrier X contacted phx tower on a 6-7 mi final to runway 8R. Air carrier X was cleared to land on initial contact. Small aircraft Y was initially observed 7 mi northwest of the airport, sbound at 3500 ft. I issued 2 traffic alert clrncs to air carrier X. Air carrier X took evasive action to miss small aircraft Y. I observed their targets merge on 5 mi final within 100 ft. I was working the local south position.
