Narrative:
Flying from mvy to N99 along long island sound in uncontrolled airspace but with VFR flight following. New york approach asked to descend so as to avoid class B airspace, but I expected vectors to hudson river flyway. Entered lga class B airspace, then vectored to hudson river flyway. Problem caused as I expected vectors but did not receive from flight following. Corrected by getting clearance and transiting area. I had originally intended to overfly class B airspace but afternoon WX was a problem. Ceilings did not lift and DME tuned to jfk instead of lga. Some confusion about destination by ATC, westchester, ny, or PA.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF SMA TRIES TO OVERFLY CLASS B AIRSPACE, BUT WX WILL NOW ALLOW. CTLR ASKS HIM TO DSND AND RPTR EXPECTS VECTORS TO MAINTAIN CLRNC FROM CLASS B. HE ENTERS CLASS B WITHOUT CLRNC, THEN RECEIVES VECTORS.
Narrative: FLYING FROM MVY TO N99 ALONG LONG ISLAND SOUND IN UNCTLED AIRSPACE BUT WITH VFR FLT FOLLOWING. NEW YORK APCH ASKED TO DSND SO AS TO AVOID CLASS B AIRSPACE, BUT I EXPECTED VECTORS TO HUDSON RIVER FLYWAY. ENTERED LGA CLASS B AIRSPACE, THEN VECTORED TO HUDSON RIVER FLYWAY. PROB CAUSED AS I EXPECTED VECTORS BUT DID NOT RECEIVE FROM FLT FOLLOWING. CORRECTED BY GETTING CLRNC AND TRANSITING AREA. I HAD ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO OVERFLY CLASS B AIRSPACE BUT AFTERNOON WX WAS A PROB. CEILINGS DID NOT LIFT AND DME TUNED TO JFK INSTEAD OF LGA. SOME CONFUSION ABOUT DEST BY ATC, WESTCHESTER, NY, OR PA.
