Narrative:
The flight originated out of dallas love field, tx. The crew was informed to report for the flight departure an hour earlier. We arrived as requested, checked in with the maintenance, and reviewed the logbook (aircraft), release (dispatch) and WX. Again we were informed of the early departures and arrival of another aircraft which would need our parking slot. Proceeded to the aircraft, completed the preflight checks. During the preflight the other aircraft arrived creating a problem. In turn, things were completed in a rapid manner. The maintenance representative was busy with the second aircraft all along, with ensuring our craft was also prepared for takeoff. Bottom line was, we departed without the aircraft logbook, which was discovered during climb out. Called company to have the other aircraft bring our log when they returned to iln. We used spare log to record our flight activity. Haste makes waste! Patterns were interrupted which ensures the flight proceeds in accordance with FARS. Need to see what is being checked on the checklist.

WE ARRIVED AS REQUESTED, CHKED IN WITH THE MAINT, AND REVIEWED THE LOGBOOK (ACFT), RELEASE (DISPATCH) AND WX. AGAIN WE WERE INFORMED OF THE EARLY DEPS AND ARR OF ANOTHER ACFT WHICH WOULD NEED OUR PARKING SLOT. PROCEEDED TO THE ACFT, COMPLETED THE PREFLT CHKS. DURING THE PREFLT THE OTHER ACFT ARRIVED CREATING A PROB. IN TURN, THINGS WERE COMPLETED IN A RAPID MANNER. THE MAINT REPRESENTATIVE WAS BUSY WITH THE SECOND ACFT ALL ALONG, WITH ENSURING OUR CRAFT WAS ALSO PREPARED FOR TKOF. BOTTOM LINE WAS, WE DEPARTED WITHOUT THE ACFT LOGBOOK, WHICH WAS DISCOVERED DURING CLBOUT. CALLED COMPANY TO HAVE THE OTHER ACFT BRING OUR LOG WHEN THEY RETURNED TO ILN. WE USED SPARE LOG TO RECORD OUR FLT ACTIVITY. HASTE MAKES WASTE! PATTERNS WERE INTERRUPTED WHICH ENSURES THE FLT PROCEEDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH FARS. NEED TO SEE WHAT IS BEING CHKED ON THE CHKLIST.
