Narrative:
Climbing through FL180, the left engine's #4 bearing failed on a DC9-30 aircraft causing a power loss. Completed engine failure and emergency landing checks. Prepared cabin for the emergency and returned to iah. Normal landing. After confirmed no fire or other problems, had passenger exit aircraft through aft stairs to return to terminal.

Title: PIC OF A DC9-30 RETURNS TO DEP ARPT AFTER LOSING #1 ENG. RPTR CITES THE #4 BEARING FAILURE ON THE JT8D AS THE CAUSE OF THE PWR LOSS.
Narrative: CLBING THROUGH FL180, THE L ENG'S #4 BEARING FAILED ON A DC9-30 ACFT CAUSING A PWR LOSS. COMPLETED ENG FAILURE AND EMER LNDG CHKS. PREPARED CABIN FOR THE EMER AND RETURNED TO IAH. NORMAL LNDG. AFTER CONFIRMED NO FIRE OR OTHER PROBS, HAD PAX EXIT ACFT THROUGH AFT STAIRS TO RETURN TO TERMINAL.
