Narrative:
During takeoff roll on runway 13L we received a 'cargo smoke' indication on the central warning annunciator panel at 100 KTS, just prior to V1. We aborted the takeoff, and during the abort, the warning reoccurred. We exited the runway and stopped the aircraft on the reverse-high speed taxiway. We then accomplished the memory items for cargo smoke. We notified ATC, called for crash fire rescue equipment, and alerted the flight attendant of a possible emergency evacuate/evacuation. During the time we were securing the aircraft, crash fire rescue equipment inspected the cargo area for evidence of smoke/fire. They reported seeing none, however the compartment was flooded with the cargo fire extinguishing agent installed in the aircraft (halon). Determining that the aircraft was again safe, we deplaned the passenger normally and they boarded a company provided bus on the taxiway. Whether it was a false warning or not, we were certainly glad that the aircraft has installed in it a cargo fire extinguisher system.
