Narrative:
We were flying at 11000 ft from lyh direct csn. It was a bumpy flight. PF requested that PNF request 9000 ft from ATC. PNF was filling out flight log at this time but requested 9000 ft from ATC. ATC, now cleared us to 10000 ft. PNF read back clearance to 10000 ft and returned to filling out flight log. PF thought he was cleared to 9000 ft (correct altitude for direction of flight) and started his descent. PNF looked up from paperwork, noticed the altitude deviation and immediately told the PF who corrected the deviation within seconds. There were no conflicts with other traffic. Supplemental information from acn 380911: PF heard 9000 ft set 9000 ft in altitude select. PNF did not notice the altitude and continued on filling logbook.

Title: BAE4100 FLC OVERSHOT THEIR ALT IN DSCNT WHEN THE FO MISUNDERSTANDS THEIR CLRNC AND MISSETS THE ALT ALERTER. THE PIC IS BUSY WITH THE LOGBOOK AND FAILS TO CATCH THE ERROR IN THE ALT ALERT UNTIL 700 FT PAST THEIR ALT.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 380911: PF HEARD 9000 FT SET 9000 FT IN ALT SELECT. PNF DID NOT NOTICE THE ALT AND CONTINUED ON FILLING LOGBOOK.
