Narrative:
After receiving takeoff clearance on runway 18R we started our takeoff roll. At the same time tower cleared a jet for takeoff on runway 18L to fly heading 185 degrees. Our clearance was to turn right heading 240 degrees. We barely had our wheels in the well when the local controller told us to start our right turn. I came back and said 'when altitude permits I will start my right turn.' he said 'I believe your altitude permits, start your turn.' I said 'when I reach 400 ft according to my book I will start the turn.' he said 'you read your book, I will control the airplanes, start your turn.' I said 'you don't control this airplane, I do and when I reach 400 ft I will start my turn, not before.' this goes to show the attitude and disrespect for turboprop aircraft at dfw airport. This is a continuing battle we have with the controllers. They need to change their attitude and treat us with respect as they would any jet aircraft arriving and departing dfw.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTT COMMUTER ACFT IS TOLD BY CTLR TO START HIS R TURN WHEN HE IS 100 FT AGL AFTER TKOF. RPTR INDICATES HE WILL START THE TURN WHEN ALT PERMITS. THEY GET INTO A VERBAL HARANGUE ON THE AIR.
Narrative: AFTER RECEIVING TKOF CLRNC ON RWY 18R WE STARTED OUR TKOF ROLL. AT THE SAME TIME TWR CLRED A JET FOR TKOF ON RWY 18L TO FLY HDG 185 DEGS. OUR CLRNC WAS TO TURN R HDG 240 DEGS. WE BARELY HAD OUR WHEELS IN THE WELL WHEN THE LCL CTLR TOLD US TO START OUR R TURN. I CAME BACK AND SAID 'WHEN ALT PERMITS I WILL START MY R TURN.' HE SAID 'I BELIEVE YOUR ALT PERMITS, START YOUR TURN.' I SAID 'WHEN I REACH 400 FT ACCORDING TO MY BOOK I WILL START THE TURN.' HE SAID 'YOU READ YOUR BOOK, I WILL CTL THE AIRPLANES, START YOUR TURN.' I SAID 'YOU DON'T CTL THIS AIRPLANE, I DO AND WHEN I REACH 400 FT I WILL START MY TURN, NOT BEFORE.' THIS GOES TO SHOW THE ATTITUDE AND DISRESPECT FOR TURBOPROP ACFT AT DFW ARPT. THIS IS A CONTINUING BATTLE WE HAVE WITH THE CTLRS. THEY NEED TO CHANGE THEIR ATTITUDE AND TREAT US WITH RESPECT AS THEY WOULD ANY JET ACFT ARRIVING AND DEPARTING DFW.
