Narrative:

Flying into ipt with an FAA route inspector in jump seat, we were cleared by ZNY for a visual approach from 5000 ft MSL directly above the airport. We contacted ipt tower. We were told to enter a left downwind for a visual approach for runway 9, and to watch for traffic doing touch and goes on runway 12. We complied and positioned for a downwind at 2000 ft MSL (1500 ft above airport elevation). At abeam the touchdown point we received a GPWS warning 'terrain, pull up.' the crew acknowledged the warning and climbed 200 ft. No further warning was heard. We proceeded for a visual approach and landing on runway 9 at ipt.
