Narrative:
We were being radar vectored for an ILS approach to runway 1 at cak. There was about 5 mins of silence, so I switched radios and asked the controller if he heard us. The controller had apparently been trying to reach us while we were on the bad radio. We continued the flight only using communication #2, and the rest of the flight was uneventful. There were no traffic conflicts during that 5 mins that we were out of radio contact.
