Narrative:
On aug/sun/97, at ptk, at XX00Z our crew was preparing to depart oakland-pontiac. We called clearance delivery with no response. We tried them again with no response then switched to ground for our clearance. We got no response there either so we tried the tower. No response there either. The first officer had been on the radios so now I tried -- all 3 frequencys and no response. I tried both radios and so did the first officer. No response. We taxied into a position where the tower could see us and tried them again -- nothing. There was no other traffic moving about at this time and we concluded the tower was closed. We called our taxi to 'pontiac-traffic' on tower frequency 120.5 and taxied out. It was VFR and I decided we'd takeoff and get our clearance once airborne from detroit. We taxied to runway 27L and did our run-up. We called traffic again and announced our intentions and with no traffic on final or base, we departed. At 1000 ft AGL, we called detroit -- the first officer got no response and I tried 124.9, 126.85. After 3 tries detroit answered and said before they gave me a clearance to call ptk tower, I did and they answered. He asked what happened and I explained everything we had tried. We then completed our flight. We had a radio problem (first officer unable to transmit on radio #1 and sometimes on #2) the rest of the day. At no time was another aircraft involved.

Title: FLC OF AN EMBRAER EMB110 INADVERTENTLY TOOK OFF WITHOUT TWR CLRNC DUE TO AN UNKNOWN PROB WITH THEIR ACFT RADIO COM SYS.
Narrative: ON AUG/SUN/97, AT PTK, AT XX00Z OUR CREW WAS PREPARING TO DEPART OAKLAND-PONTIAC. WE CALLED CLRNC DELIVERY WITH NO RESPONSE. WE TRIED THEM AGAIN WITH NO RESPONSE THEN SWITCHED TO GND FOR OUR CLRNC. WE GOT NO RESPONSE THERE EITHER SO WE TRIED THE TWR. NO RESPONSE THERE EITHER. THE FO HAD BEEN ON THE RADIOS SO NOW I TRIED -- ALL 3 FREQS AND NO RESPONSE. I TRIED BOTH RADIOS AND SO DID THE FO. NO RESPONSE. WE TAXIED INTO A POS WHERE THE TWR COULD SEE US AND TRIED THEM AGAIN -- NOTHING. THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC MOVING ABOUT AT THIS TIME AND WE CONCLUDED THE TWR WAS CLOSED. WE CALLED OUR TAXI TO 'PONTIAC-TFC' ON TWR FREQ 120.5 AND TAXIED OUT. IT WAS VFR AND I DECIDED WE'D TKOF AND GET OUR CLRNC ONCE AIRBORNE FROM DETROIT. WE TAXIED TO RWY 27L AND DID OUR RUN-UP. WE CALLED TFC AGAIN AND ANNOUNCED OUR INTENTIONS AND WITH NO TFC ON FINAL OR BASE, WE DEPARTED. AT 1000 FT AGL, WE CALLED DETROIT -- THE FO GOT NO RESPONSE AND I TRIED 124.9, 126.85. AFTER 3 TRIES DETROIT ANSWERED AND SAID BEFORE THEY GAVE ME A CLRNC TO CALL PTK TWR, I DID AND THEY ANSWERED. HE ASKED WHAT HAPPENED AND I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING WE HAD TRIED. WE THEN COMPLETED OUR FLT. WE HAD A RADIO PROB (FO UNABLE TO XMIT ON RADIO #1 AND SOMETIMES ON #2) THE REST OF THE DAY. AT NO TIME WAS ANOTHER ACFT INVOLVED.
