Narrative:
I inadvertently allowed the center tank fuel to go below 1000 pounds before turning off the center tank pumps. Common cockpit distractions and other flight deck priorities notwithstanding, I will attempt to do better in complying with this change of procedure in the future. I would suggest a fuel panel software change be made such that the fuel confign light would come on at 1000 pounds.

Title: B767 ACFT ON TRANSOCEANIC FLT, CTR FUEL TANK WAS INADVERTENTLY ALLOWED TO GO BELOW 1000 LBS BEFORE TURNING OFF PUMPS CONTRARY TO SOPS.
Narrative: I INADVERTENTLY ALLOWED THE CTR TANK FUEL TO GO BELOW 1000 LBS BEFORE TURNING OFF THE CTR TANK PUMPS. COMMON COCKPIT DISTRACTIONS AND OTHER FLT DECK PRIORITIES NOTWITHSTANDING, I WILL ATTEMPT TO DO BETTER IN COMPLYING WITH THIS CHANGE OF PROC IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD SUGGEST A FUEL PANEL SOFTWARE CHANGE BE MADE SUCH THAT THE FUEL CONFIGN LIGHT WOULD COME ON AT 1000 LBS.
