Narrative:
Student pilot, during a cross country flight became disoriented and mistook vrb for imm. While self announcing and positioning to land he had a conflict with an aircraft within close proximity. He landed at vrb without a clearance, plus taxied without clearance. The instructor in the aircraft that had a near miss talked with the student. The student, also, talked with the tower. The problem may have been solved if he was receiving flight following with miami 132.25 or contacted FSS for a DF steer or used 121.5 for assistance.
