Narrative:
During cruise the flight attendants reported electrical fumes in vicinity of row xx. So inspected area and confirmed the smell. A passenger sent a written note to the cockpit also reporting an electrical type smell and also abnormally warm wall of airplane. I made the decision to declare an emergency and divert into orlando which was directly below us. Divert was routine and all emergency services were standing by when we landed. The smells went away during our descent. After landing we taxied to the gate accompanied by fire fighting equipment who confirmed no smoke/fire on exterior. At the gate all passenger deplaned using the jetway. Maintenance removed several wall panels and noted a trim air valve was stuck open, porting warm/hot air inside cabin wall. No damage was noted and we continued on to our destination of atlanta.
